The resort is located in the Payette River Mountains on the west shore of the Cascade Reservoir, southwest of Donnelly, Idaho and south of the resort town of McCall.

After overcoming many hurdles along the way, the resort opened for business in December 2004.

The name Tamarack is derived from the tamarack larch tree found in this area of Idaho. The Tamarack Resort is designed to be a four-season resort to attract visitors throughout the entire year, offering skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, plus snowshoeing in the winter and attracting golfers and fishermen in the warmer months. These are only a few of the activities offered at Tamarack.

On the Slopes

• The terrain at Tamarack offers a challenge to all levels of ability. With an average snowfall of over 300 inches, there is a good chance that you will encounter a wonderful powder experience. Escape2ski was treated to several days of incredible powder due to the awesome fall lines created at Tamarack.
• If your visit is greeted with sun or high overcast clouds, then another treat awaits, the magnificent views as your make your way from the summit to the base. Create memories – this is the perfect opportunity to take lots of photos.
• Several trails that impressed Escape2ski were found at the summit; were the intermediate terrain of Upper Showtime and Lower Showtime lead all the way to the base area. Also from the summit, the double black trail of Me First and the black diamond trail of Tango were simply amazing.
• Tamarack Resort has two terrain parks; the Family Fun Park is located on Discovery Run and contains all beginner features. The rails are "Ride on" and low to the ground, and the jumps are small and low risk. This a great Park to tune your skills and get ready for the more advanced No Business Terrain Park!
• Tamarack Resort snow school is committed to providing a great learning experience with programs suited to improving all ability levels, from first-timers to children’s programs and various private and semi-private lessons.

Off the Slopes

• Tamarack Resort is home to 15km/9.5mi of groomed Nordic Trails where you can enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing as an alternate activity away from the slopes. A valid trail pass is required for access.
• Need some time away from the slopes, how about a visit to the Vitality Spa, located in The Lodge at Osprey Meadows; a short stroll from the base of the mountain? Here you can enjoy a relaxing massage, time in the hot tub or steam room. Visit Vitality Spa for more information.
• Although limited, there are some shopping options available to purchase winter apparel, from gloves, goggles, hats and clothing. Also available are many souvenir items to remember your visit to this resort. Alternate shopping and dining options are available in Donnelly and McCall, Idaho, a short distance away.
• Various accommodation options exist at the base of Tamarack Resort. You can choose from The Lodge at Osprey Meadows to condo style options, quaint private cottages, private townhouses and estate homes when you require more space.
