Stowe Mountain Resort is located near the town of Stowe in Northern Vermont.

Stowe is comprised of two separate mountains, Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak. Alpine skiing came to Vermont when trails were first cut on Mount Mansfield in 1933. Stowe Mountain Resort is a premier winter getaway and best known as a skiing and snowboarding destination; however, it is gaining popularity as a lively summer and fall resort destination.

Vermont is an area that has earned the reputation as a winter playground filled with charm. Stowe is one piece of this amazing puzzle and is not to be overlooked. Escape2ski’s has had the opportunity to visit Stowe on several occasions, and we were not disappointed, it definitely lives up to its reputation.

On the Slopes

  • Stowe Mountain Resort welcomes skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels to a selection of terrain that has earned the area a great reputation for fun and challenge. The mountain hosts approximately 116 named trails, across six distinct ski areas and an inter-mountain gondola that will easily take you from one area to another.
  • Mount Mansfield has a summit elevation of 4395ft/1340m and is Vermont’s highest peak. It is well known for the double-black diamond “Front Four” trails, which include Goat, Star, Liftline, and National. These trails will test your ability, so be prepared.
  • Spruce Peak offers terrain that is more suitable for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Lower Spruce – the area nearest the Spruce Base Area Complex – is a great place to learn.
  • Although not formally published, the Toll Road trail (a green run) might just be the longest run on Stowe. This run is a great way to end a day on the mountain, or for those interesting in a more leisurely cruise you’ll find it here.
  • Stowe offers two terrain parks with various levels of challenge, check them out in the Mansfield Triple area of the mountain.

Off the Slopes

  • Stowe Mountain Resort offers an array of accommodation options - from townhouses and condos, to historic country inns, and a luxurious lodge and spa. You’ll also find gourmet dining and shopping options available.
  • Beyond the resort, you’ll find the inviting community of Stowe. This 200-year-old village is reminiscent of a European mountain resort and hosts an even greater selection of accommodation, shopping and dining options.
  • A “free” shuttle form the town of Stowe to the base of the mountain operates daily during the winter months. Check the Helpful Links section below for operating times.
  • Stowe features a number of non-mountain activities that include cross country skiing, dog sled rides, dining, and shopping options, whether at the mountain or in the charming town of Stowe.
