The resort is located in the Roaring Fork Valley, within the White River National Forest of Colorado. After several years of construction to build this new ski resort, it opened on Dec 17, 1967.

Unlike many other ski areas in the region, Snowmass Ski Resort was not built on the base of a left over mining town that had served its time, but constructed as a vision for a complete ski resort facility, complete with lifts, terrain and a mountain village.

Snowmass Ski Resort is the largest of the four areas that are known within the skiing and snowboarding circles, simply as Aspen Snowmass.

On the Slopes

  • At Snowmass Ski Resort, there are over 3000 acres of diverse terrain to welcome skiers and boarders of all ability levels. From beginners looking for an introduction to a new sport or the advanced skier or snowboarder looking for some of the best steeps, cliffs and couloirs in the area, there is something for every snow enthusiast.
  • Snowmass Ski Resort hosts a collection of three Terrain Parks filled with great features and challenges, as well as a Super Pipe a beginner pipe, so there is something to challenge all ability levels.
  • One huge convenience to visiting Snowmass is that you can purchase a lift ticket that entitles you to use at all four of the Aspen/Snowmass mountain areas.
  • A compliment to the vast and diversified terrain at Snowmass are the nine on-mountain restaurants that offer great places to take a well deserved break from the slopes.
  • If you are looking to improve your skill level, Aspen Snowmass ski and snowboard schools are committed to, along with their talented instructors, provide you with the best possible learning experience. Also, Adaptive Snow Sports programs are available for anyone requiring some extra assistance.

Off the Slopes

  • At Snowmass Ski Resort, your accommodation, shopping and dining options are almost endless, whether you stay in the village of Snowmass or travel to the city of Aspen for a change of pace.
  • The City of Aspen is a collection of red brick buildings that offer a hint of how the past may have looked. It offers boutiques, dining covering every type of cuisine, shopping and many lodging choices depending upon you tastes. Interested in après ski, Aspen offers a great nightlife atmosphere with bars and nightclubs.
  • Snowmass Ski Resort prides itself on providing a family-friendly atmosphere both on and off the mountain. Check out the many activities and programs for children as well as the Tree House Kids’ Adventure Center.
  • The Roaring Fork Transit Authority provides “free” bus transportation between the four mountains - Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk Ski Area and Snowmass Ski Resort. This service operates from 8:00am to 4:30pm daily. From Aspen Mountain to Snowmass the bus service operates until 2:00am. Call 970-925-8484 for further information.
  • There is a “free” Snowmass Village Shuttle that operates regularly throughout the village during the winter and summer seasons.
