The ski area is located in the Sange de Christo Mountains of New Mexico and opened in the early 1950’s under the name Santa Fe Ski Basin. The ski area is located about 16mi/26km from the historic city of Santa Fe, which is celebrated for its arts, cultural and tradition.

The drive to the ski area will take you through the city and then through several small communities where you will be delighted by the unique beauty of the countryside. Ski Santa Fe holds the distinction of having the highest base elevation of all ski and snowboard areas in the state of New Mexico, 10,350ft/3155m and has grown into a ski area that offers stunning terrain and some of the most incredible views in New Mexico.

The ski area is a day skier and snowboarder destination, with lodging and nightlife found in the city of Santa Fe. The city is rich in folk art, crafts and performing arts. It is also a place try exceptional cuisine.

On the Slopes

  • Ski Santa Fe is a family-friendly environment where everyone can experience a day on the slopes together. Ski Santa Fe has a nice division of terrain; the lower slopes offer beginner and intermediate terrain, where the upper slopes have a great selection of advanced and expert terrain such as Big Rocks Glade and Easter Bowl. Ski Santa Fe is home to a terrain park that is located mid-mountain and is a compliment to the already amazing terrain that makes up this mountain.
  • As you venture higher on the slopes, you’ll find advanced and expert terrain just waiting to challenge skiers and snowboarders who are looking for some heart-pounding action. On a clear day, as you descend down from 12,053ft/3674m on North Burn and Cornice, the view is simply amazing. Pack your camera; you don’t want to miss this great opportunity for photos that will last a lifetime.
  • The Snowsports School is ready to help everyone improve their skills with various children’s programs in Chipmunk Corner with lessons for ages 3 to 11 years. There are also adult programs for beginners to advanced individuals looking to sharpen their technique. They also offer women specific programs and adaptive programs as well. There is also the Burton Learn to Ride Center for the younger riders.

Off the Slopes

  • At the base of the mountain, you will discover the La Casa Lodge, where you can find everything you need including a great selection of food with all of your favourites. It is also home to guest services, lift tickets, the rental shop and the Ski Santa Fe Sports Shop offering a full line of apparel, gloves, hats, goggles and souvenirs to commemorate your visit.
  • Downtown Santa Fe is a wonderful place to examine the beautiful architecture. The city of Santa Fe has been designated a UNESCO Creative City in design, crafts and folk art and is the 4th largest city in the state of New Mexico.
  • Looking to spend some time alone on the slopes without the kids, the Chipmunk Corner for Kids is a great place for the children with various programs, events and also a day-care facility for ages 3 months to 3 years.
