The ski area is located on scenic Route 4, west of Sydney, Nova Scotia. This picturesque route stretches from east to west across Cape Breton Island and is a beautiful drive that changes its postcard beauty with the seasons. Ski Ben Eoin opened for skiing in January 1968, with a few trails and limited services when a group of ski enthusiasts took their love of skiing to this particular spot.

Throughout the history of this ski area there have been many improvements, including a quad chairlift, a Magic Carpet and an area dedicated to novices on the slopes. 2018 will mark the 50th Anniversary for the ski area. Ski Ben Eoin can be classified as a four-season area, with the addition of the Lakes Golf course and nearby Ben Eoin Yacht Club and Marina.

On the Slopes

• The ski area has a comfortable atmosphere that makes it a great location to learn to ski or snowboard and Ski Ben Eoin is actively involved with school ski programs for elementary students.
• Ski Ben Eoin has a dedicated team of ski and snowboard instructors that would love the opportunity to help you develop of passion for the slopes and to help improve your skill set.
• There are several children's ski and snowboard programs available while mom and dad take to the slopes for a few turns on their own. The ski area hosts many social events throughout the year, including an adult race series.

Off the Slopes

• Ski Ben Eoin offers 14km / 9mi of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails that have various spots where you can stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the surrounding area. Rentals are available.
• The Broken Buckle Pub located in the Base Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy great food. Live music is available on select days and evenings.
• Ski Ben Eoin has a retail store with ski wear including gloves, goggles, helmets along with many more items. There is also a complete rental and repair facility and a cafeteria.
• There are no lodging options at the ski area, but only a 25 minute drive to the City of Sydney there are numerous lodging choices to choose from. Shopping and dining are available on Charlotte Street in Sydney or one of the three malls in or near the city.
