Mount Norquay Ski Resort is on the opposite side of the Trans Canada Highway from the town of Banff, Alberta. It is one of three ski areas in the Banff National Park that make up what is commonly referred to as the SkiBig3, and it is the closest on to the City of Calgary.

Mount Norquay was named after John Norquay who was a former Premier of Manitoba. It has been reported that he climbed the mountain, but it is unclear if he ever reached the summit.

Mount Norquay Ski Resort opened in 1926 with just a few runs, and it would not be until 1929 that the day lodge would be constructed. In 1948, the ski area installed its first a chairlift and would have the distinction of being the first one to do so in Canada.

The ski resort has earned a reputation as a training ground for Olympic and World Cup athletes along with a long history of supporting alpine ski racing.

Throughout its long history, Mount Norquay Ski Resort has grown from humble beginnings to hosting skiing and snowboarding on three mountain sections and is recognized not only in the local area but on the world’s stage. The resort is locally owned and continues to provide a family-friendly environment for all to enjoy.
