Back in 1957, Mont Habitant Ski Area only existed in the thoughts of Mickey Stein, who hoped that someday he could construct a ski facility across the road from his farmhouse in St-Sauveur-des-Monts. After careful thought and a clear vision for the future, Mickey Stein along with his partners, Stephen and Stanley Vineberg finally agreed that they could create a ski area for all skiing enthusiasts to enjoy.

To make their vision a reality they needed someone with experience and contacted New Hampshire resident Sel Hannah, known throughout the nation as a ski area designer with the company he founded, Sno-Engineering. Together, they worked tirelessly to make the dream a reality and Mont Habitant Ski Area opened for the 1958/1959 ski season with several trails and lots of excitement for the region.

Mont Habitant Ski Area has been known for decades as a great place for families to come and enjoy the mountain experience and remains this way today. The family-friendly vibe along with its proximity to Montreal, night skiing and après-ski options make it a popular destination in the region.
