The resort is located on the west side of the Teton Range in Alta, Wyoming. This quaint ski and snowboarding resort is tucked away on its own within the mountains high above the Valley below and offers a true mountain experience.

If you want to be one with nature, but enjoy all the comforts of home, Grand Targhee Resort is the place to be. Grand Targhee Resort opened on December 26, 1969 with just two lifts and two lodges.

Fast forward to 1997 and the installation of The Dreamcatcher, its first High-Speed Quad Chairlift, now the resort hosts 5 lifts to whisk you to its uncrowded slopes. Today, the ski resort is comprised of three mountains, Fred’s, Peaked and Mary’s Nipple.

An interesting fact about Grand Targhee Resort is that the only access is located in the state of Idaho by way of the town of Driggs. As you travel along Ski Hill Road, you’ll once again enter Wyoming where the resort is located.

On the Slopes

  • The resort is known for its laid back atmosphere, lack of lift lines, uncrowded slopes and an abundance of light powder snow. On a clear day from the summit of Fred’s, you will enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding area and the unforgettable view of the Grand Teton.
  • Grand Targhee Resort offers variety of terrain; there is something to suit the beginner or expert skier or snowboarder. The Terrain has a natural layout with the easier runs located in one section and the more advanced and expert terrain located in another, this makes it easy to determine if you are in an area suited to your ability.
  • Is Terrain Park action on your list while at Grand Targhee Resort? With their amazing annual snowfall the resort has been able to create a terrain park filled with rails, boxes, jumps, vertical taps, and more! The park offers a challenge to every level of park enthusiast. It’s a great place to improve skills and have some fun in the process.
  • Grand Targhee Resort is a place for the whole family to enjoy. The resort offers a host of activities ranging from various adult and children’s snow school programs, Kids Club Daycare to an entire section on the mountain known as the Kids Fun Zone, complete with its own chairlift.
  • New to Grand Targhee Resort, make sure to take advantage of the complimentary Mountain Host guided tour to help you discover all that the mountain has to offer. Meet at the Dreamcatcher Lift at 10:30am and get ready to explore.

Off the Slopes

  • Other activities include and worth looking into are sleigh ride dinners, dogsled tours, and the Grand Targhee Tubing Park for the entire family – Note: a height restriction is in effect and reservations are recommended.
  • Looking for an alternative to a day on the slopes, there are 9.3mi/15km of Nordic trails available with the added advantage of 5 trails being track set and a skating lane. The Nordic Trails range in difficulty; you may wish to consult a map. Snowshoeing is also permitted along the Nordic Trails.
