The ski resort is located near Nederland in Boulder County, Colorado. It was the vision of four individuals, George Sweeny, Gabor Cseh, Frank Ashley and Donald Robertson who wanted to create a ski facility near Lake Eldora. There vision became reality when Eldora Mountain Resort opened in 1962 as a day area ski facility with a few trails and two T-Bars.
Eldora Mountain Resort is one of the few Colorado ski and snowboard areas located on the eastside of the Continental Divide and in close proximity to the city of Boulder, Colorado.
Today, Eldora Mountain Resort has skiing and snowboarding on three mountains, Little Hawk featuring green and blue trails and terrain parks, Challenge Mountain where the more difficult terrain is found and finally Bryan Mountain that features the most difficult and expert terrain.
Getting to Eldora Mountain Resort from Boulder is along Boulder Canyon Drive, which is quite a scenic route, but keep in mind; it is mostly a two-lane road. Eldora is a locals-friendly mountain, relaxed and unpretentious and one of Colorado’s best-kept secrets for families.
