The Resort is located in the beautiful Okanagan near Kelowna, British Columbia. If you are driving from the city to Big White Ski Resort, make sure to allow approximately 60 minutes of travel time to your itinerary.

The ski area opened in 1963 and just recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the resort. Big White Ski Resort motto is “It’s the snow” and the resort defiantly lives up to this statement. Its location, weather and elevation provide the perfect combination to create an average of 750cm/295in of incredible champagne powder every year.

Big White Ski Resort provides an exceptional experience for the entire family. In fact, it has been named one of the “Top 5 Family Resorts in the World”. Not travelling with the family, don’t worry, there is something for everyone both on and off the slopes.

On the Slopes

  • Big White Ski Resort is home to 2,765 acres of skiable terrain, and 5 Alpine Bowls including the Sun Rype Bowl and the Parachute Bowl just to name a few. The mountain offers a great selection of terrain to suit all ability levels, everything from deep powder bowls, to wide-open glades, and great fall-line cruising.
  • From the summit, you can enter the open powder bowls below the Cliff Chair where an advanced/ expert skier or snowboarder will find the double blacks of Pegasus and The Cliff waiting.
  • Also from the summit there is a second more leisurely option. From the Alpine T-Bar, select the green terrain of Sun Run or T-Bar Easy Out for a pleasant descent to the lower slopes. At mid-mountain, there is a collection of blue intermediate terrain, which is sure to make your day a memorable one.
  • Terrain Park more your style, Big White Ski Resort offers a dedicated lift to take skiers and snowboarders who seek some fun on the jib features or the half-pipe to the Telus Terrain Park.
  • Big White Ski Resort has earned a reputation for its ski school. With dedicated instructors and programs to help you learn a new sport or improve on your existing skills.
  • On the Westside of the resort is the Gem Lake Express, where you will discover the Sun Rype Bowl and the steep fall-line black diamonds of Black Bear and Black Magic. Or as an alternative take the green terrain of Village Way connect to O Go Slow and make your way to the base of Gem Lake.

Off the Slopes

  • The Alpine Village provides ski-in/ski-out accommodations for approximately 17,000 guests, with options for every taste and budget, everything from hotel rooms, to condos, and individual cabins.
  • The Big White village hosts 18 on-mountain restaurants, cafes, delis, pubs and nightclubs, so there is no shortage of places to relax and enjoy the wines of the Okanagan.
  • For those days away from the slopes there are many off-mountain activities at the Happy Valley Adventure Centre. Activities include outdoor ice skating, an ice climbing tower and the Mega Snow Coaster Tube Park.
  • Big White Ski Resort offers kid’s daycare and the location has easy pick-up and drop-off.
