The Ski Area is nestled in the majestic San Francisco Peaks of Arizona and opened for operation in 1938, which makes it one of the oldest continually operated ski areas in the United States. When most people think of Arizona, their first thought is of warm sunshine and desert like appearance, not snow and mountains. However, Arizona has some great skiing and snowboarding, so be sure to check out all the options that are available.

Arizona Snowbowl has achieved some amazing milestones given its geographic location. The ski area celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 1963, the 50th Anniversary in 1988 and in 2013 their 75th Anniversary. The ski area offers a family-friendly ski area with wide open learning areas for anyone who has just discovered skiing or snowboarding.

Arizona Snowbowl for the 2015/16 season will have great access to some exciting terrain with the installation of the first ever quad chairlift, known as the Humphreys Peak Quad.

Exciting news for the 2016/17 winter season at Arizona Snowbowl, the first ever high-speed 6 passenger chairlift, known as the Grand Canyon Express will transport skiers and snowboarders on a 6 minute ride to some of the best intermediate and expert terrain on the mountain.

On the Slopes

  • Arizona Snowbowl has an increased uphill capacity with the addition of the Arizona Gondola which will allow you to have extra time on the slopes. Don’t forget to stop on your descent to enjoy the view of the surrounding area.
  • The Arizona Gondola is a Chondola, which is a combination of six passenger chairs and eight passenger gondola cabins. This lift will take you to the summit where you get access to the advanced terrain of Upper Ridge, White Lightening and Upper Volcano.
  • There are intermediate trails found near the Grand Canyon Express Chairlift. Enjoy Lower Ridge, Phoenix, Agassiz and North Star.
  • If you need extra room to practice your skills, wide-open gentle terrain awaits on the green slopes of Hart Prairie, Aspen Meadows and Santa Fe. These areas are serviced by separate chairlifts to make your day that much more enjoyable.
  • Terrain Park more your style, Arizona Snowbowl has the Sunset Terrain Park, which is home to a series of parks, starting with the Prairie Dawg Start Park, then progresses to the Pocket Progression Parks found on Southern Belle which host a range of features. Finally, there is the Sunset Terrain Park equipped with all the jumps, rails, boxes and jibs to challenge and entertain the most seasoned park adventurer.
  • Arizona Snowbowl features two day lodges which host retail shops, cafes and of course the always appreciated patio, where you can enjoy the sun and chat about your day on the slopes and the secret areas to ski or snowboard.

Off the Slopes

  • As there is no slope-side lodging at Arizona Snowbowl, accommodations can be found just a short distance away on Highway 180 at the end of the mountain area road.
