The resort is located on Stratton Mountain in Windham County, Vermont. Stratton Mountain Resort has grown considerably from its humble beginnings in December 1961 when it opened with three double chairlifts, a three-story day lodge at the base and dirt access road. Stratton Mountain has evolved into a four-season resort complete with a pedestrian village, lodging, dining and shopping and is one of Vermont’s largest ski areas. A well-known fact or perhaps a forgotten place in history is that Stratton Mountain Resort was the first major ski resort to open its slopes to snowboarding.
