Squaw Valley Ski Resort, Lake Tahoe, California & Escape2ski connect you to skiing, snowboarding, snow reports, trail maps, lift tickets, lodging & webcams. Squaw Valley Ski Resort is located in the Olympic Valley of North Lake Tahoe, California. The ski resort opened in 1949 and was modeled after the quintessential European ski destination. In 1960, Squaw Valley Ski Resort received a huge amount of exposure as the host to the Winter Olympics Games. These games were the first to be televised, which meant that the world could see all that this mountain resort had to offer. Also during the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley was designated as a California Historical Landmark. Squaw Valley Ski Resort is home to approximately 3600 acres of skiable terrain, six peaks and at least five alpine bowls, including G5, North, and Sun just to name a few, as well as an average of 450in/1143cm of snow per year. A Squaw Valley Resort lift ticket also provides you with access to Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley’s sister mountain located just 10-minutes away, and free shuttles depart from each resort every half-hour. Squaw Valley Ski Resort also provides on select weekends a chance to ski or snowboard under the stars.

At Escape2ski you’ll find out – What to know…before the snow.

On the Slopes

  • Here is just a taste of a day on the slopes at Squaw. Ride the Headwall Express chairlift and experience first-hand the thrill of Sun Bowl and Headwall Face. Then take the Siberia Express to Siberia Bowl, hop on the Big Blue Express and take Ram Run or Snow Flower and enjoy a high alpine experience with more of a moderate flare.
  • If the Terrain Park scene is more your style, then you are in luck with 5 parks and so many features to get your heart pumping (and not just from the high altitude) you’ll find exactly the challenge you are looking for.
  • A unique feature of Squaw Valley Resort is High Camp. The aerial tramway will carry you to 8200ft/2500m above sea level where you can enjoy a day hanging by the pool, eating, shopping, roller-skating and playing high-altitude disk golf.

Off the Slopes

  • The resort hosts a European-inspired village, with stone walkways that will easily guide you to the many shops, restaurants and entertainment venues located there. There is also slope-side accommodation ranging from 5 star hotels to condominiums and B & B’s.
  • Squaw Valley Resort is family-friendly and offers many options for the entire family to enjoy a day on or off the slopes. Activities include, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, a climbing wall and the ever popular sno-tubing and mini snowmobiling.
