Ski Cape Smokey in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and Escape2ski connect you to skiing, snowboarding, snow reports, trail maps, lift tickets, lodging and webcams.

The ski area is located in Ingonish Ferry on the beautiful Cabot Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands of Nova Scotia. As the slogan on our Ski Cape Smokey souvenir ski pin collected many years ago states, Ski By The Sea.

Overlooking Ingonish and the Atlantic Ocean, the view from the top of the mountain is spectacular and is rich in breathtaking vistas. The ski area has been a fixture in the local community for decades.

Ingonish, Cape Breton is well known throughout the world as a summer tourist destination, but the winters are also filled with many activities. Ski Cape Smokey boasts the greatest vertical drop, 1000ft/305m within the Maritime Provinces.

On the Slopes

  • Ski Cape Smokey has earned a distinct reputation throughout the skiing an snowboarding community. It offers some of the most challenging terrain in Nova Scotia and quite possibly the Maritimes.
  • The mountain can be accessed by several types of lifts and is amongst the region’s best hills.
  • With a variety of runs from beginners, to double diamond glade runs Ski Cape Smokey has something to satisfy most skiers and snowboarders.

Off the Slopes

  • The ski area operates on a limited basis, usually Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 9am to 4pm and every day during March Break for Nova Scotia schools.
  • Due to the proximity to the ocean please keep in mind that the weather conditions can be unpredictable and change rather quickly in the area.
