Mount Sunapee Resort in New Hampshire and Escape2ski connect you to skiing, snowboarding, snow reports, trail maps, lift tickets, lodging and webcams. The ski resort is located near the town of Newbury in southwestern New Hampshire and opened as a ski area on December 26, 1948 with just three trails, a single chairlift and two rope tows. Also completed for opening day was the North Peak Lodge. Mount Sunapee Resort has grown by leaps and bounds and in 1982, the first snowmaking equipment was installed covering several trails. Another big year was 1998 when the Summit Triple was replaced with the first high-speed quad, the Sunapee Express, which carry skiers and snowboarders from the base to the summit. With over 66 trails, the slopes of Mount Sunapee Resort offers a little something for everyone; no matter what your ability level is. Great fall line slopes can be found from the summit on Bonanza to Chipmunk and all the way to the base area. Great views of the surrounding area can be found as you descend from the summit on any of the great trails, from Wingding, Skyway Ledges and the more advanced trail of Upper Blast-off. Remember, this is a mountain where the entire family can enjoy much needed-time together. Mount Sunapee Resort has truly transformed itself into a four-season recreation area.

At Escape2ski you’ll find out – What to know…before the snow.

On the Slopes

  • Although Mount Sunapee Resort is a great place for families, there is the advanced terrain of Lynx, Chase Ledges and Upper Cataract. For the expert terrain seeker, head to Goose Bumps, Sunrise Glade or Hawes Hideout where your challenges awaits.
  • The lift system at Mount Sunapee Resort easily connects one part of the mountain to the other, allowing you to enjoy all the terrain it has to offer, and when Mother Nature is not so giving, snowmaking steps in to provide quality conditions day after day.
  • If you are looking for terrain park action, you’ve come to the right place; The Calypso on South Park and the Nordica Learn-To-Drop are designed to give everyone a chance to gain that much-needed experience and confidence before advancing to the next level.
  • The next level is the Main Park, Bob Skinner’s Six O’ Three that has been designed with an advanced level user in mind and is complete with rails, jumps, and other features to get your heart pumping and adrenalin going. Also, do not forget about the Eastside Skier Boarder Cross course located mid-mountain off Westside.

Off the Slopes

  • Mount Sunapee Resort is focused on families with various programs available for the young ones. Mother Goose Child Care (ages 1-5) is located in the Learning Center Facility. Reservations are recommended. Children’s learn to ski programs are also available, ranging from the Snow Stars (ages 4-7) and The Program (ages 8-15) along with private lessons and the Tag-A-Long Program where a parent can accompany their child during the lesson.
  • Did you forget something before venturing onto the slopes, no worries; there are several locations at the resort where you can get what you need. Snow Sport Shops by Guest Services Desk in the Sunapee Lodge has everything from hats, gloves and a full line of clothing. The Spruce Lodge contains smaller items such as gloves, hats and toques.
  • For a change of pace check out the AMP Energy Acro Bag Airbag with separate lanes for snowtubes and skiers, snowboarders to practice some new moves. Check the operating times, pricing and any weight requirements to prevent disappointment.
  • While there is no mountainside accommodation at the Mount Sunapee Resort, there are over 20 lodging properties in the immediate Mount Sunapee region. The area is also known for its fine restaurants.
