Mont Habitant Ski Area in Saint Sauveur, Quebec & Escape2ski connect you to skiing, snowboarding, snow reports, trail maps, lift tickets, lodging & webcams. Mont Habitant Ski Area is located north of Montreal in the beautiful Saint-Sauveur region of Quebec. Back in 1957, Mont Habitant Ski Area only existed in the thoughts of Mickey Stein, who hoped that someday he could construct a ski facility across the road from his farmhouse in St-Sauveur-des-Monts. After careful thought and a clear vision for the future, Mickey Stein along with his partners, Stephen and Stanley Vineberg finally agreed that they could create a ski area for all skiing enthusiasts to enjoy. To make their vision a reality they needed someone with experience and contacted New Hampshire resident Sel Hannah, known throughout the nation as a ski area designer with the company he founded, Sno-Engineering. Together, they worked tirelessly to make the dream a reality and Mont Habitant Ski Area opened for the 1958/1959 ski season with several trails and lots of excitement for the region. Mont Habitant Ski Area has been known for decades as a great place for families to come and enjoy the mountain experience and remains this way today. The family-friendly vibe along with its proximity to Montreal, night skiing and après-ski options make it a popular destination in the region.

On the Slopes:
Mont Habitant Ski Area has a good selection of terrain that is suitable for the entire family. The quaint trail layout allows you to connect easily with your group as everyone experiences their day on the slopes, particularly the terrain of Mickey’s Run or Caribou or the jibs of the terrain park. Mont Habitant also offers the chance to ski and snowboard under the lights on seven trails.

Perhaps the best-known legacy of Joan Stein is the Mont Habitant Ski Area Snow School, which has carried on with her teaching principles and programs for decades. Joan was the first female ski director in Canada and the creator of the 10 Weekend Programs. In keeping with the tradition of a family atmosphere, Mont Habitant offers ski and snowboard lessons and programs to children as young as three years old. They also host children and adult group and private lessons and various specialty and adaptive programs.

Off the Slopes:
