Homewood Mountain Resort is located adjacent to US Highway 89, on the west side of Lake Tahoe. Ski Homewood, opened in November 1961 under the ownership of Helen Alrich. An adjacent ski area known as Tahoe Ski Bowl and founded by Ernest Kettenhoffen also opened around the same time with a rope tow and the Quail and Ellis Chairs.
