Bromley Mountain in Vermont and Escape2ski connect you to skiing, snowboarding, snow reports, trail maps, lift tickets, lodging and webcams. The ski area is located near the town of Peru in southern Vermont. It known as the Sun Mountain due to the south facing slopes. The first trail located on Bromley Mountain (Bromley Run) opened in 1936 and was planned by John Perry, David Parsons and Rolando Palmedo who were members of the Amateur Ski Club of New York. Founder Fred Pabst Jr. of the famed Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer family officially opened little Bromley Ski Area in 1938, with one rope tow. Bromley Mountain has grown considerably since its beginnings in 1938-39 when the 200-acre West Meadow opened. The mountain saw significant change in the 1958-59 season when the first chairlift, a double, was installed from the base to the summit. Further expansion occurred in the 1997-98 season with the opening of the Sun Mountain Express, a high-speed detachable chair, which was the first ever high-speed quad at Bromley Mountain.

Bromley Mountain Resort has sunniest skiing in the East, over 46 classic New England trails and glades with a variety of terrain, all in a family-friendly environment.

At Escape2ski you’ll find out – What to know…before the snow.

On the Slopes

  • The Sun Mountain Express will get you the summit in minutes and depending upon your ability level you can access the entire mountain from this chairlift.
  • To combat the whims of Mother Nature, Bromley Mountain Resort uses a five-phase snowmaking platform to cover approximately 86% of their terrain for your enjoyment.
  • As you reach the summit on the Sun Mountain Express, go right, and you will encounter a challenge with the advanced terrain of Havoc, Pabst Peril and Stargaze, all accessible via the Blue Ribbon Quad. Go left at the summit and find you way to the intermediate trails of Sunset Pass and Route 100. Remember, if it is a clear day, pack your camera and enjoy the beautiful scenery as you enjoy the trails below.
  • The Garden located at the plaza Lift on the lower mountain, and Exhibition Park found at mid-mountain, are two of the three terrain parks available at Bromley. Both parks offer sufficient challenges with rails, boxes and many more features to keep you coming back for more. On weekends and holidays the Riglet Park designed for kids is open in the Learning Zone to provide them with an introduction to park life.
  • The Bromley Ski and Snowboard School is ready to help improve everyone’s ability with various children’s programs, as well as, adult programs for beginners to advanced individuals looking to sharpen their skills. They also offer adaptive programs as well.

Off the Slopes

  • When visiting Bromley they’re several options available for on-mountain lodging in the Bromley Village, which provides you with less driving and more slope time. Other nearby options exist in the areas of Peru and Manchester Vermont. No matter which area you choose, you will be able to enjoy the country feel of Vermont.
  • Bromley Mountain Resort hosts a warm family friendly environment for all to enjoy. In order to allow parents some time to enjoy carving up the slopes, there are various kids programs at the mountain school for ages 3 to 6, as well as, licensed day care for kids as young as 6 weeks to 6 years.
  • As an alternative to a day on the slopes there are many activities in the nearby areas of Peru and Manchester to keep you busy. Cross-Country skiing is very popular and found at these Nordic centers; Wild Things, Hildene and Viking. Riley Rink in Hunter Park in the town of Manchester is a great place for a family skating session. Other activities include sleigh rides, dog sledding and of course dining and shopping.
  • Note, the closest airport to Bromley Mountain Resort is in Albany, New York, the neighbouring state to the west; however, Vermont has the Burlington Intl Airport located 103mi/166km to the north and a beautiful drive south to the mountain.
