Big Sky Resort in Montana and Escape2ski connect you to skiing, snowboarding, snow reports, trail maps, lift tickets, lodging, webcams and adaptive skiing. This family-friendly resort is located in Madison County in southwestern Montana. Big Sky Resort opened in December 1973 as the result of the vision of the late NBC newscaster and Montana native, Chet Huntley. In Oct 2013, Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin (Big Sky’s neighbour on the north boundary) merged together to form one of the largest ski resorts in the United States. This magnificent area definitely lives up to its slogan, “America’s Biggest Skiing. Period”. With runs up to six miles long and glades and bowls covered in 400+ inches of annual snowfall, there’s something different for everyone.

On the Slopes:
With only one ticket, Big Sky Resort gives you access to 5,800 skiable acres and mountain terrain that will satisfy everyone tastes and abilities. If you are interested in more relaxed terrain, Big Sky Resort has it, or if you prefer and a more expert adventure, Big Sky has that too.

Give yourself time to discover how vast Big Sky Resort truly is. With four mountain peaks to choose from, you will soon discover how difficult it is to ride the same trails twice. Even with such vast terrain, the mountain is easy to navigate.

If you are looking for some expert/extreme terrain, the Lone Peak Tram will transport you to the summit (11,166ft/3403m) and some of the most difficult terrain in the country. As you prepare yourself for the adventure ahead, take a moment to experience the 360-degree views of the surrounding mountain ranges.

Off the Slopes:
Big Sky Resort offers a cozy, pedestrian friendly village at its base that has a great variety of restaurants from casual to fine dining and lodging options to fit any budget and lifestyle.

The Meadow Village is located approximately 10 minutes away and offers additional shopping, restaurants and entertainment. A free shuttle service is available between the two villages.

The resort offers many off-mountain activities including; nordic skiing, snowshoeing, a tube park and ice climbing and for those interested in a trip to Yellowstone National Park, snowmobile tours. Highly recommended.

With such vast terrain at hand, you may want to take advantage of the complimentary Mountain Tours that take place daily. All levels of intermediate through advanced skiers and riders welcome.

At Escape2ski you’ll find out – What to know…before the snow.
